Theological and xenophobic animosity against a guest that sojourns in your beloved homeland is of no use in the sophisticated culture of our day today global civilisation. If one peruses the abysmal retardation of social segregation, one will never ever advocate for racial discrimination under any circumstance. The heinous apartheid that paralysed our black South African siblings in their botanical and resourceful country taught us enough, and, enough is enough.
May I drive you to the centigrade of the theme of this expounding article? If yes, there was an article entitled "Southerners Beware!!! (7)" on The Citizen Daily Newspaper (Saturday, November 8, 2008, Vol. 3, Issue 247. P 3.) Writing about the security concern of South Sudan, the author of that comment said, "The author reiterates, there are so many elements loaming the streets of Juba at night - there are Somalis here, some LRA elements and the jallabas security cover up apparatus pretending to be traders but with some hidden agendas as has been the case since 1820 AD."
What is the adroit deliberation at the clandestine indicia of the Somo-phobic (Somali-hating) author in linking the innocent Somali hawkers with LRA which is a radical organisation famous for its gross violation of human rights? I don't understand what the word "jallabas" means, but from the depiction of the writer's semantics, if he means our Northern Sudanese blood brothers, there is no racial relationship between Somalis and Northers; Somalis are guests for Sudanese people in general, be it Southerners, Northerners, Westerners or Easterners - guest for Sudan. We have hearty respect for our Sudanese siblings regardless of their race and religion; and, we owe a lot to Sudan. Somalis will never interfere with the Sudanese domestic politics because they are foreigners, therefore, I don't get why the author hesitates and hates us. Does it that we are Muslims? Is it not better that we differentiate religion from politics? Somalis are Muslims by faith, Sunni by thought and Shafi by doctrine; as such, if Christian-Muslim war breaks out, (which I don't call for) they will forget anything else in a jiffy and fight to the finish for the sake of their religion, Islam, as Southern Sudanese Christians will also fight to the last man stand for the sake of their religion, Christianity.
If the author fears that we shall give votes to Northerners, then it is wrong of to think so; the success of the coming plebiscite depends on the Sudanese psephologist free and fairness. The unity and separation of South and North doesn't concern Somalis - it is Sudanese-Sudanese task in where to drive the car.
If Sudanese comes to me in my motherland, I will carry him or her on my head without considering the religion that he believes in - Muslim, Christian, Animist or any other traditional mythology in worship. Up to him or her. In this factor, what means to me a lot is his or her Sudanese nationality in the name of bilateral respect, not theological stand. Personally, Sudan locates in the centre of my heart because of many sounding reasons, but, to name a few, it is where I peacefully studied my university. It is also the place I created, produced or wrote, 80% of my 1500 poems, lyrics and songs - on varying subjects - from love to peace, development to politics, human rights to nature etc. This great and multi-cultural country, Sudan, has unforgettable remembrance in my poetic and literary life. I am proud of Sudan now and again. Sudan with all my love. My dear black African brother, never call me an Arab poet, I am an African poet and proud of that for I have unmovable Somo-African poetical background which I am equipped with- Somali language.
Coming to the racial location of Somali people, they, Somalis, are brown Africans - like Eritreans. If our black African siblings think that we are Arabs or Arab adjutants, they are in the middle of nowhere and need full study on who we are and what we mean to Africa. In my opinion, Somalis are Africans by birth, blood, ethnicity, ethnology, tradition, colour and culture. The membership of Somalia in the Arab League is just a diplomatic, strategic, political and socio-economical intercontinental correlation - cooperation.
To brief you on the real Africanism of Somali people, if Somali citizen asks for a visa to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the holy mother of the Muslim world, he or she will be awarded with rejection. If he intrudes into the holy cities, Macca and Medina - Medina almunawara and Macca almukarama, he will be deported back to the long-time troubled Somalia against his will. It transpired that some prominent figures were deported at the apex of the meaningless Somali civil war and on their arrival at Mogadishu, they were killed by tribal militiamen hunting for them for the simple reason of their clan genealogy. Unpalatable to the altruistic and peace-loving mind! Where is the Arabism you were accusing me of? If he or she asks for a visa to Uganda, he will be honoured with it. It happens that we (Somali people) enter Uganda without taking visa to but entry from the airport. I am proud of this great African sister country. Kampala with all my love!
The Somali person is a wounded lion under the horrid political condition of today, nothing lasts forever, the war will end and we will be able to lead Africans who see us today "The sick man in the East Africa" as Kenyan author calls us. As I am in political tragedy, give me all diabolical shape that you decide.
To the conclusion of my article, this is an apprising of the fact and answer to South Sudanese authors.
