For years, the so-called Northern Somalis for Peace and Unity NSPU—Canada based and a pro Somali regime—group called for armed attacks against Somaliland. Also, the Transitional “Federal” Government TFG vowed to keep Somaliland within Somalia and supported Puntland whenever fighting erupted between Somaliland and Puntland. Furthermore, terrorists continually threatened Somaliland. But all these threats not only materialized but they also became a reality on the ground and spurred panic in Somaliland before the nation barely recovered from the devastation of the 90s’ brutal war.
In the 90s, the notorious war criminal General Mohammed Said Hersi Morgan—a former Somali Army General—who has been nicknamed the butcher of Hargaisa, Somaliland capital, massacred over 60, 000 civilians, and razed major Somaliland cities and villages to the ground. He once wrote the infamous letter: “The Letter of Death” to the former Somali dictator Gen. Mohammed Siad Barre and purposed a campaign of obliteration against Northern Somalis. http://01782d4.netsolhost.com/home/page19.html
Additionally, when the Somalia regime collapsed in late 90s, Gen. Morgan and one of his chauvinistic henchmen named Col. Cabdul Casiis (Garam Garam) waged yet another barbaric war in Southern Somalia where these two men displaced thousands of local civilians. Their military campaign in Southern Somalia in 1992 plunged the region into one of the worst famines Somalis have ever seen. How many people have been murdered and how many women have been raped by these two men both in Somalia and Somaliland could be countless. Their savagery would send chills down your spine. Yet, despite Gen. Morgan’s war crimes, today, he works as a security advisor for the TFG and his salary is paid by the International donors. But you think these war criminals may someday cease slaughtering women and children. Don’t be so hopeful. Recently a criminal organization called Somali Unity Defense Alliance SUDA led by Col. Casiis attacked Somaliland. No sooner did Somaliland
buried the victims of October 29, 08 terrorist attacks in Hargaisa than SUDA attacked police stations in Las Anod, the provincial capital of Sool region in Somaliland, with grenades, on November 03, 08. As result two police offices were wounded. http://tinyurl.com/5o3ogb See also this relevant article about the terrorist attacks in Hargaisa: http://www.awdalnews.com/wmprint.php?ArtID=10781
Now, in light of these terrorist attacks—which have the epitome of evil—against Somaliland, many questions linger over who is behind these heinous campaigns: where the suicide bombings in Hargaisa and grenade attacks against police stations in Sool region coordinated? Are SUDA, NSUM (NSPU or ASSC—S), TFG and terrorists who attacked Hargaisa linked?
Evidently, Col. Casiis and his terrorist organization SUDA are connected to NSUM (NSPU or ASSC—S) http://www.n-sum.org/?q=node/30 In his own words he states that he belongs to Puntland region. http://www.xargaga.net/images/file/Wararka%20Jabhada/ColGaramGaramXOL.ram He is also a henchman of Gen. Morgan—a high profile person in the TFG—who hails from Puntland. And NSUM (NSPU or ASSC—S) is the same group with multiple identities, which is based in Canada. http://www.awdalnews.com/wmview.php?ArtID=10713 This group is clearly a pro-TFG—which is synonymous for Puntland—group, as one of its staunch supporters named Mahad, Mohsin states, “Abdalla Hirad and the director of NSPU are from SSC regions as are other members of the team. They also belong to Puntland since SSC is part of it.” http://www.somalilandtimes.net/sl/2007/298/15.shtml Additionally, for the TFG whatever possible clandestine operation needed to sabotage Somaliland
independence—including a terrorist attack is a fair game. So since all these groups agree on one thing: derailing the proximate Somaliland independence, there is little doubt they cooperatively work together.
However, opponents of my assertion would argue that there is no credible evidence linking these groups. A fair argument, indeed! Equally, there isn’t a shred of proof either that they are not linked. Evidence will speak for itself once Somaliland government completes its investigation into Hargaisa and police station attacks in Sool region. But the connection between the TFG, Gen. Morgan, Col. Casiis, SUDA and NSUM (NSPU or ASS-C) eludes nobody, nor are the arrays of attacks against Somaliland coincidental.
Without a doubt, Col. Casiis works with Gen. Morgan closely. Gen. Morgan is also a high profile figure of the TFG. And Col. Casiis admits ripping apart police stations to “preserve” Somali unity. What does maiming Somaliland law officers has to do with keeping Somali unity? Just like NSUM, SUDA’s paradox of Somali unity baffles many Somalis both in Somaliland and Somalia. The self-proclaimed commander of SUDA, Col. Casiis attacked Somaliland police stations to “unify” Somalia, but he has no objection to the occupation of Somalia by Ethiopia. Are you kidding me!
Worst of all, Gen. Morgan and Col. Cassis are rampant warmongers who take their cues from the TFG led by the bellicose warlord, Col. Abuddulahi Yussuf—the butcher of Mogadishu—the president of the current Somali puppet regime, or the besieged mayor of Baydhobo, the only city which his regime controls. It may well be proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that their loyalties rest more with their quest for tribal hegemony over Southern Somalia than they do with their phony Somali unity—a unity these cowards sold to Ethiopia.
And while the world pours millions of dollars into the current Somali regime as to keep life-support on it and create peace in Somalia, murderers such as, Col. Casiis who is clearly affiliated to the TFG detonates explosives in Somaliland. It is as if the International community is providing resources to the TFG camp to further destabilize the region while the world is claiming to support peace and stability in the region. Make no mistake; the very Somali regime which receives millions of dollars from donors, and makes loud shrill noises (that could shatter glass) about the presence of terrorists and pirates in a Somalia is also the epicenter of Somalia’s turmoil. And its zealot supporters like NSUM/SUDA will not hesitate to sabotage the upcoming Somaliland presidential election—at any cost.
Evidently, while the NSUM remains the political branch, its military wing SUDA led by Col. Casiis wages a terror campaign against Somaliland. And sadly, one of the greatest countries in the world: Canada unknowingly hosts the NSUM (NSPU or ASSC—S) group. The NSUM is based in Ottawa, Canada. This group provides resources to its military wing SUDA. After all SUDA is an offshoot of NSUM. So is Canada doing anything about the grenade attacks—which are perhaps the brainchild of the NSUM gang—detonated in Somaliland police stations? Maybe not!
Amazingly, the terrorist attacks in Hargaisa have been foretold by one of the NSUM’s self-proclaimed spokes person. Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis predicted disaster in Somaliland prior to the attacks in one of his vomit-worthy papers entitled, “Rebellion Plunges Somaliland in Total Chaos…” http://www.maanhadal.com/maanhada/Rebellion_Plunges_Somaliland.html
Was he tipped off about massive attacks impending? You bet!
To sum up, NSUM—a violent organization based in Canada—is the architect of the attacks against Somaliland police stations. If mutilating law officers and committing terrorist attacks against Somaliland is a prerequisite for preserving Somali unity, Somalilanders must unite to defend their nation from terrorist attacks as they have repulsed the barbaric atrocities carried out by Gen. Morgan in the 90s.
Also, while Canada remains one of the front-runners of the war on terror, evidently it harbors violent groups like NSUM whose military wing SUDA launches grenade attacks against Somaliland police stations. The government of Somaliland, as well as Somaliland-Canadian community must protest against attacks in their country—which have been orchestrated in Canada.
Clearly, although the International community led by Canada hunts down and apprehends war criminals in Europe and elsewhere, donors nurture Somali warmongers. For instance, Gen. Morgan is on the payroll of donors. And his henchman Col. Cassis continues the legacy of Gen. Morgan—the butcher of Hargaisa.
As from Somaliland, despite terrorist attacks and setbacks, the government must continue reaching out small pockets of our society who feel that Harigaisa left them out. A nation building is not about only winning the hearts and minds of the majority; it is about bringing everybody onboard.
